Ol’Turtle Farm was established in 2008 when Eileen Droescher moved to Marion, North Carolina from Western Massachusetts where she left behind a large CSA farm. Having farmed there many years, Eileen transitioned that farm to a younger couple and scaled down to a two acre market farm here in Western North Carolina.
The land at Ol’Turtle Farm is rich bottom land that had been in fescue for many years. This provided the perfect spot to start a chemical free, sustainably managed vegetable and small fruit farm. Eileen also put up a transplant greenhouse for the production of chemical free vegetables, flower and herb transplants for the farm as well as for resale. Ol’Turtle Farm is also the home for a small pasture-based laying flock.
